Target Detection Range


In modern warfare, aerial targets such as aircrafts, missile or UAV are detected and tracked using radio wave radars and infrared sensors. Detection is only possible when target is within the range of radar and sensors. Using analytical relations of wave propagation, it is possible to estimate the detection range. For radars, the software app inputs radar wavelength, receiver bandwidth, noise factor, transmission loss factor, SNR and transmitted power. For IR sensors, the software app inputs emissivity coefficient, IR wavelength, atmospheric transmission and SNR. For both case, the software output the detectability range.
