Shock absorber mounts are used for isolating the equipment from the shock on its mounting structure. Mounts reduce the level of transmitted shock by temporarily absorbing the energy through high deflection in its springs or rubber. Selection of shock mounts is not straight-forward and always requiring dynamic calculations of spring-mass system to evaluate the shock transmission. The calculation software takes inputs of equipment mass, number of shock mounts and shock time profile. The software outputs are peak acceleration on the equipment and its time profile. User can also calculate transmissibility using the results.
