Kaplan Water Turbine

Description

Kaplan type water turbines are utilized where available head required for energy extraction is low. Such turbine employ a set of stator vanes & an axial impeller with curved blades. The design of impeller blades is unique for each flow and head requirement. Blade design is based on relative angle of fluid flow at leading and trailing edge. The governing equations are known as euler equations and are based on conversation of angular momentum and velocity triangles. The software app inputs available head, flow rate, hub / tip diameters, RPM and number of blades. The software outputs shaft torque, mechanical power, blade pitch, its chord length and setting angle.
