Cyclone Separator Design

Description

Cyclones are used in process industry to separate solid particle matter from fluid. For separation, cyclones introduce vortex rotation to the fluid flow & use centrifugal force on heavier particles to push them outwards. Cyclones are always sized and designed specific to the process requirement. Cyclones are design using one of the two empirical methods proposed by W.H. Koch or L. Enliang. In the software app, the user is required to input the flow parameters like flow rate, inlet velocity and density along with particle data like its specific gravity. The software outputs the dimensions of the cyclone separator as well as an estimate on its efficiency.
