Covid Aerosol Flow Model

Description

Good ventilation is a proven approach for reducing airborne transmission of pathogens. Recirculating indoor door has been the cause of many super-spreader events. Indoor air quality can be improved by either increasing intake of fresh air or by filtering it. This software focuses on airborne transmission of Covid-19 due to movement of aerosolized particles. It is based on analytical formulation of aerosol balance & flow balance in ventilated indoor spaces. Occupants can compare the options to reduce the aerosol concentration in their living spaces by either increasing fresh air ventilation or by adding HEPA based air purifiers.

About Software

The software focuses on airborne transmission of Covid-19 due to movement of aerosolized particles. It is based on analytical formulation of aerosol balance & flow balance in ventilated indoor spaces. Occupants can explore ways to reduce the aerosol concentration in their living spaces by either increasing fresh air ventilation or by adding Air Purifiers.

Note

The tool assumes that:

  1. Temperature change from Air Conditioning is 10°C and it's effeciency is 65%.
  2. It is assumed that each infected person exhales aerosol at the rate of 1mg/min.
  3. Electricity cost is Rs. 5 per kWh
