Electric Heater Design

Description

Electrical heaters are important process equipment to heat process gases or liquids. They use resistive elements to convert electrical energy into heat. The arrangement of resistive elements and design of flow path around them are dictated by requirements of temperature rise and allowable pressure drop. This requires solution of equations related to heat balance, estimates of convective heat transfer coefficient, through depth conduction inside heater elements and pressure drop across circular bundle. The software allows such calculations for cylindrical liquid heaters & rectangular air heaters. Given flow conditions & baffle / element arrangements, the software outputs the max heating element temperature & pressure drop.
